Review of the film "Star Wars: Skywalker. Sunrise". The empire hits back
On "Mandalor" From the very beginning, great hopes were entrusted. Still, this is the first "live" series for "Star Wars" -Something that they probably dreamed about, but what did not even dare to present several generations of the fans of the saga. Hope was inspired by the fact that the project of the highest category took up the project – with John Favro and his "Iron Man" Once the Marvel cinema-populated began, and Dave Filoni really loves and knows Zv, no matter how anyone treats him "Wars of clones" And "Rebels". The final result met expectations. The charismatic protagonist, the verified style of the cosmic western, the memorial baby iodine in the end – all this allows ..
What? Why are we talking about "mandalor" generally? Ummm … well … just discuss it is much more pleasant than what we are offered under the sign of the final episode of "Star Wars". But nowhere to go – work is work. Let's talk about Skyuoker's Sunrise or how it is there.
In order to at least approximately, to the most modest degree to describe the greatness of the film, you have to dispose of its drip. But do not worry – everything described or falls directly in the introductory wall of the text, or speaks in the first minutes of ten.
So, behind the atrocities of the first order and all the troubles of the new republic stood none other than Emperor Palpatine. It was he who created Snouk and used it as a proxy to educate Kylo Ren. But how did he survive the fall into the mine and the explosion of the death star? “Alchemy of the Sith,” some Svostanian says with knowledge, although, it seems, even yesterday even Jedi was considered a fairy tale. But okay, let's lower it. The bottom line is that the vile old man is located on the planet, which since ancient times served the Sith by secret shelter. And there, very incidentally, from ancient times, a powerful imperial flotilla is parked, capable of turning the course of war. But in order to find the forbidden planet, Rei and her friends must first get a special artifact, which will indicate the location of another artifact, on which secret coordinates are already recorded. But this is not the most difficult task – the creators of the trilogy are much harder, who are trying to convince the viewer that from the very beginning everything was conceived.
Apparently, the Star Wars without a deserted planet Abrams considers it impossible
There is such a thing – “Suspension of Disbelief”, which can be clumsyly translated into Russian as “suspension of unbelief”. This is a conscious or subconscious acceptance by the viewer (reader, player) of the proposed rules of the game. Yeah, here we have a giant in the nervous pants fights with the god of the Scandinavian pantheon – probably, you can score on the laws of physics. And here the elves run up with wizards – it means that we consider every miracle the norm while heroes consider it to be such. But there are separate episodes or plot moves that simply knock the viewer out of immersion. In "The Lord of the Rings" The facet of trust is crossed by eagles, in "Batman against Superman" – “Martha!". And "Skywalker. Sunrise "from such moments, it is almost half. And this despite the fact that “Star Wars” from the very first film mercilessly exploited this same “Suspension of Disbelief”. You can accept space wizards with laser sabers, you can take explosions in a vacuum and a blood relationship between a guy from a farm and the most terrible villain in the galaxy. But to accept on faith everything that the ninth episode offers is very, very difficult. And not because what is happening on the screen stupidly (although it is damn stupid), but because everything is clearly artificially and exhausted. Before your eyes, the owl is pulled onto the globe with such force that it seems that a mournful hoot is about to be heard in the hall.
The film introduces several new characters, but nothing really does anything with them
Many complaints are rightly presented to Ryan Johnson. He really scored on a trunk plot, and also became too carried away by twists for the sake of tweets and turning the canons upside down. But at the same time, he at least somehow developed the characters of Rei, according to and Finn, let him have to scatter them at different ends of the galaxy. And also brought to Star Wars several rather fresh and relevant topics – the relativity of good and evil, the harm of the cult of personality, the meaninglessness and crime of war. Yes, he did not switch, but at least stated, simultaneously changing the status of the CVO.
Abrams and his team threw Johnson's achievements into the basket, as if in revenge for the fact that Johnson did the same with Abrams's achievements. Everything returned to their own circles, and daring postmodernism was replaced by already familiar "Awakening of power" worship of the original trilogy. Everything is sewn to it, regardless of whether it looks organically or not. Again, widespread quotes, parallel scenes and rotten cliches.
"Last Jedi" scolded for the fact that one of the plot lines was built on the principle of "go there, bring it". So, in the "Skywalker" this principle is built into the absolute. The whole scenario is moving from a point to a point Big Win Box Casino in order to find and get something. Only a list of quests in a corner is not enough. At the same time, the entire central line took from nowhere. Imagine that at the beginning "Return of the king" It would be clear that Frodo should no longer go to the Mordor, but to the country, about which no one had mentioned the word before. And the ring … you can at least throw it into the ditch. Okay, the comparison is not entirely correct, because Tolkien from the very beginning knew where and why he was leading his heroes. In lucasfilm, everything was clearly decided on the go.
The fight under the waves really came out spectacular. But she is diluted with enchantingly stupid moments
And already, by and large, it does not matter how beautiful and spectacular the film. It is clear that masters in special effects, artists, make -up artists, operators and other specialists on projects of this scale are laid out to the maximum – these are professional standards. Yes, and Abrams the director is extremely talented-after all, Spielberg’s protege, and this leaves the imprint. But the next spectacular flight of a “thousand-year-old falcon” cannot cause delight when the viewer has just pulled out of immersion by some idiotic moment, whether it was a plot hole, an inappropriate reference or an awkward attempt at a retic.
The acting also does not save, because the characters were again reduced to functions and archetypes. Rei pass the same arch for the third time in a row: he cannot find himself, recognizes the shocking truth, breaking, accepts it and wins everyone. No, she is not Mary Sue – she is the same "yarrow hero" from which they simply forgot to blind a living person. But Johnson almost succeeded ..
From the Dameron for two films, it was not possible to make a decent method for Khan Solo a decent replacement, so they resorted to f or fraud-it turns out, a former smuggler and hero-lover. Now everyone can see, everyone understands? Well, Finn … he just eats again. Abrams seemed to be not sure whether to fall in love with him in Rei or still not, so he left it to the audience-whatever you want, then think out.
Adam Driver still tries the most trying to the most, but the script does not help him a drop. Yes, many actions of Kylo Rena can be explained by the fact that he is psychologically injured and unstable, but sometimes even this justification does not work – the character is just storming.
Ultimately "Skywalker. Sunrise "makes almost the same impression as the finale "Games of Thrones" – epic, grandiose, but enchantingly stupidly and tasteless. Half of the plot lines was chopped off as unnecessary, the remaining tied in some kind of crooked knot.
What place in history will take the trilogy of sequels, only time will show. Once upon a time, the prequels reproached everyone who is not lazy, and now for the whole generation this is a classic. But right now it seems that Disney has created a completely optional appendage to the original saga, in which old ideas are exploited, but not one of the new.
So look better than the "mandalor".
